About Me
Hi,
My name is Nick. I am a structural engineer living in Australia. I have always been fascinated by flight. Many days were spent at airports all over Australia during my youth as I was captivated by the thought of one day learning to fly. Once I graduated from University and found a job I enjoyed, I finally had the time and means to turn that dream into a reality.
I learned to fly the Sling 2 LSA aircraft in Caloundra, Australia and have really enjoyed taking my friends and family up flying. I particularly enjoy flying to new places.
Airshows have been a fixture of my holidays for many years. I have attended the Australian International Airshow at Avalon every year I could; and have been to some other local events when possible. At these airshows, there are often really nice examples of home built aircraft that their owners have obsessed over for years. Being an engineer and pretty handy, I have always had it in the back of my mind that it’d be great to build one of these myself one day.
This website is intended to document the process of building my home built aircraft and other projects along the way. The aircraft construction needs to be documented both for posterity and for the CASA requirements which stipulate that amateur built aircraft in Australia must have the majority of the work completed by the builder (as opposed to an aircraft manufacturer).
Follow along on the journey – I hope you enjoy!
Cheers,
Nick
